Rieke Dispensing has created an innovative pump that allows fast and convenient dispensing of cooking oils from large foodservice packs.

Known as the SimPump, the product has been developed by Rieke for Simtom Food Products of Leicester, manufacturers of a variety of Indian pickles, chutneys, curry pastes and cooking sauces for the catering sector, particularly the ethnic market.

The oils are contained in large drums that weigh 19.5 kilos. This represents a significant potential health risk to those carrying or lifting the drums when pouring the oils.

Simtom therefore approached Rieke Dispensing to develop a pump product that could be used in conjunction with the drums to dispense the oil quickly and easily without lifting.

Based on Rieke's versatile Englass Major dispenser, the new SimPump consists of an easy-to-fit pressure suction device located on top of the oil drum. Simple hand pressure is applied to a plunger and the oil is directed into the cooking pan through an elongated spout.

The SimPump features a robust design that makes it ideal for continual re-use and offers broad compatibility across a wide range of foodstuffs. Sold via Simtom Food Products, the pump comes in a handy DIY kit for easy assembly.
