Beer - Charles Wells Ltd

Working in conjunction with its customer Charles Wells Ltd, Rieke Packaging Systems, Englass has developed a novel dispensing system for 1.5 and 3 litre PET bottles of Charles Wells' Bombardier Fresh Real Ale.
Based on the versatile Englass Major dispenser, the system provides a fast and convenient means for consumers "to pour the perfect pint at home".
Rieke Packaging Systems recommended the Major as the base for the Fresh Real Ale Dispenser because it combines a robust and durable construction with excellent large volume metering that makes it ideal for all types of liquid transfer.
Delivering 100ml of beer in each full action, the Major offers two important advantages in the dispensing of real ale. Firstly, as there is no need to handle the bottle for pouring, the sediment remains settled at the bottom to deliver a "clear pint" every time. In addition, the Major aerates the beer as it is dispensed, creating a head on the drink similar to the way it is served in a pub.
In addition, Rieke Packaging Systems devised a special bottle adapter to enable the Major to fit the neck of the PET bottles and a unique "sediment foot" insert which removes any small amounts of sediment that might remain in the beer during dispensing. An extended nozzle is also supplied for easy transfer of the beer into a glass.
The Fresh Real Ale Dispenser is sold separately and comes with full assembly and operating instructions. Silk screen printing is used to brand the Dispenser for Charles Wells to maximise consumer awareness.
Guy Shreeves, Charles Wells' Marketing Manager, says the Dispenser provides an excellent USP for the Company's real ale, particularly in terms of customer convenience.
"Our Bombardier Fresh Real Ale is sold from a chiller cabinet, in order to replicate as closely as possible the taste of the 'just-pulled pint' in a pub," he explains.
"However, the bottles are quite bulky to handle, especially when pouring. The Dispenser not only takes the effort out of this but also delivers the perfect pint every time. We are delighted with Rieke Packaging Systems' contribution to this project."
